# How to get IT on board when you start building yourself

On the second day of a vibe coding training, I first let everyone share what they have done in the meantime. One participant had put vibe coding on the agenda of a meeting with the IT team that week. That was not well received, there was serious opposition. Another participant also got stuck at work. They just built a website about music instead, just to be able to learn.

I actually hear this in every group. And I understand the IT people too. So I want to explain how I see it, and what I would do.

## Why IT puts the brakes on

People working in IT mainly focus on security and governance. And they also have to manage everything properly when it gets rolled out. Besides that, they solve problems all day long, with a queue full of tickets. Then someone comes along who wants to do something with an API. And then they very logically ask first what exactly you want to do.

They also have good reasons. Suppose you give your agent your login to log into your website. It does that, and it works. Except your details might now be readable somewhere on your computer. And if everyone in a company starts building, eventually small services will be running on laptops everywhere. Keeping track of that is very difficult. Hence that reaction, and I actually think it is justified.
