# Your private AI subscription is not a company vault

Halfway through a workshop on agents came the question I would actually like to hear in every group. A participant who works as an external consultant puts contracts into AI. With an expensive personal subscription. Can someone else access that now, or is it protected?

The honest answer surprises most people. A personal subscription, no matter how expensive, is not a business subscription.

## Personal or business

If you have a personal subscription with an AI provider, you have an account for yourself. What happens to your data is in the general terms and conditions for private individuals. There are no business agreements about how they handle your clients' company data, no processing agreement, nothing you can fall back on as a business.

Those agreements only come with a business or team subscription, or with a business licence through your existing supplier, like Copilot at Microsoft. There you do have the contractual agreements a company needs. The price says nothing about that. The most expensive personal subscription remains personal.
